Break, Courage, Lyrics, original song, Soft, Song

Here are some lyrics from a song I wrote a few weeks back. I will be recording the song really soon, and I’ll post it here for you to listen to, so check back often.

Break

I will not break

I will not die

My heart can’t take another lie

And I’m lost in a dream

With nowhere to fly

Life holds me down

And I wave goodbye

And it gets so soft in here

It gets so soft in here

Soft as a pillow

It gets so, it gets so

But I will not break

I will not shed

My second skin

The wounded flesh is breathing in

And I’m walking far

With nowhere to be

In so many ways

There was you, without me

And it gets so soft in here

It gets so soft in here

Soft as a pillow

It gets so, it gets so

But I will not break

I know nothing
I know nothing anymore
And I know no one
No one knows me like before
And I’m just a shadow
I am a tree
And everyone I know is running around with a blindfold
Bumping into me
And I am the sky
But this sky it isn’t blue
It’s full of grey clouds
There’s rain and there’s thunder
And it’s brought to me by you

And I am crying
I am crying in my sleep
And I am haunted
Haunted by a vision of how things used to be
And I’m just a spirit
And I am the sea
And everything I thought to be real
The tide has taken from me
And I am the sky
But this sky it is red
It’s full of evening whispers to the morning
Carrying the fragile words you said

And I am nothing
I am nothing anymore
And I am no one
No one you would ever want to explore
And I’m just a spectre
And I am a stream
And everywhere I turn around
I feel your arms enfolding me
And I am the sky
But this sky it is black
It’s full of darkness
There are ravens flying over my head
Calling you back
Oh won’t you please come back

Cos I know nothing
I know nothing anymore
And I know no one
No one knows me like before
Like before
Like before

City, Dahab, Gold, Lyrics, Song

I’ve returned from my city of gold
And nothing is the same
I’ve returned to the place where I grew old
Where I was caught up in the game
And life moves on
I will be strong
And you are gone
You are gone from here

When I return to my city of gold
To fires blazing in the night
I say goodbye to the person I have sold
Who was caught up in the fight
And life moves on
I will be strong
And you are gone
You are gone from here

My city calls me
Come away now
Come away now
Come away now from here

When I roam in my city of gold
There is freedom in the air
When I return to the stories that were told
I find beauty everywhere
And life moves on
I will be strong
And you are gone
You are gone from here

My city calls me
Come away now
Come away now
Come away now from here

These aren’t words about you
These are words about me
About the places I go
About the people I see

The other day I saw a man
He was sleeping on the side of the road
And I wanted to cry for that man
For this is where he called his home
And I thought how easy this could be me
If I stopped the fight that let me be
And I wondered who stopped loving him
And I wondered when he stopped feeling free

The other day I saw a girl
She was crying in the street
And I wanted to say to that girl
Dry your eyes you are replete
And I thought how easy this could be me
If I did not hold fast my own decree
And I wondered who stopped loving her
And I wondered when she stopped feeling free

The other day I saw a child
He was shaking cos he was scared
And I wanted to hold that child
To show him someone in his world cared
And I thought how easy this could be me
If there was no one to hear my plea
And I wondered who stopped loving him
And I wondered if he would ever feel free

And these aren’t words about you
These are words about me
About the places I go
About the people I see
And I see sadness all around
I see people who are bound
By lives where they have lost their war
They don’t know what they are living for

Two days four ways
No one knows
Caravan beach sign cold wind blows
I’m walking I’m walking there
You’re moving away from me
Who’s talking who’s talking there
I’m lying in the breeze of time

But it’s too late now
They’ve gone away
Yes it’s too late now
They’ve found their way home

Shine like silver
Glow like skin
Drink like the river
Let them in
Now screaming and dancing there
No blankets for warmth
Who’s crying who’s crying there
The baby’s born in time

But it’s too late now
They’ve gone away
Yes it’s too late now
They’ve found their way home

Choice, Lyrics, My Way, Song

If it’s cold does that make me lonely
And if it’s warm should that make me smile
And if I feel well just a little bit ornery
Then should I give up
Should I lay down and die

What if I’m weak does that make me nobody
Or if I’m strong should that make me the best
What if I’ve dreams that seem a little bit ghostly
Then should I just give up
Is that what you suggest

No I choose my way
That’s what I say
I choose my way

What if I’m rich does that make me patient
Or if I’m poor should that make me unkind
What if I feel I’ve got no friends to rely on
Then should I just give up
Should I be left behind

What if I’m a small child does that make me less than
Than if I’m a man, well should that make me well dressed
What if I feel well just a little bit ordinary
Then should I give up
Is that what you profess

No I choose my way
That’s what I say
I choose my way

Angel, Beautiful, Gabriel, Lamb, Lyrics, music, Spirit, video

Today I’m sharing one of those songs that makes me shiver when I hear it. It’s so beautiful, simple, & profound.

The song is “Gabriel” by a band called Lamb from Manchester, UK. It’s from their 2001 Album “What Sound”. After a lot of searching, I found the official video which I share with you here:

Lamb – Gabriel – Video Dailymotion.

I featured some lyrics from the song for my “Lyric Tuesday” post on facebook which you can see below. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below.

I have to say, we had a wonderful summer this year! I made the most of August outdoors, which meant I spent little time online, and my blog suffered serious neglect. But I figure I can more than make up for this now, as the weather has become really cold and I am staying put behind closed doors, concentrating on all the work I want to catch up on.

As some of you will know, every Tuesday I post a photo on my facebook page with some lyrics from a favourite song – mine or another artist’s. This week I thought to celebrate all things Autumn, and share some lyrics from my song entitled “Autumn Leaves”. Here it is below:

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

And this is the perfect place to share the full lyrics:

Autumn leaves on the ground
Howling wind, all around
Faded rainbow, colours gone
Hold the key until there’s none

On my own, running free
No one coming after me
Nothing to cling to
Nothing left
Eerie sounds surround my steps
Echoes near
Whisper secrets in my ear
Don’t follow shadows of the day
Lift your eyes and look away

Feeling wild and almost scared
Mindless dreams I never shared
Climbing branches, hollow bark
Sit and wait until it’s dark

On my own, running free
No one coming after me
Nothing to cling to
Nothing left
Eerie sounds surround my steps
Echoes near
Whisper secrets in my ear
Don’t follow shadows of the day
Lift your eyes and look away
Squirrel leap
Falling right at your feet
Silent noises everywhere
Darkening sky, misty air
Nothing’s clear
Feel despair
Don’t you care
